Community:Serve Kick Off

Join us on Sunday July 8th at 5:30 pm at Calvary Baptist Church (soccer field) to kick off our week. During the kick off we will hear from local community leaders, we will worship, we will pray for the week, and you will have an opportunity to meet with the organization with which you are serving. We will end the evening sharing a meal together.  You won’t want to miss it!

Community:Serve 5k and Fun Run

On Saturday July 14th, we will host our first Community:Serve 5k and Fun Run at the Salem Creek Greenway. Whether you are a seasoned runner or this is your first race, we invite you to join us as we raise awareness and collect food for hungry children in our community.

Education and Hunger Forums

Raising awareness is one of our goals during Community:Serve. As such, we will host two forums. The first forum will focus on the issue of childhood hunger. Daisy Rodriguez of Second Harvest Food Bank and Dr. Doris Paez of Forsyth Futures will help us understand the issue and the best ways for churches to respond. The second forum will focus on the issues of education and hunger. Dr. Amber Baker of Kimberley Park Elementary School, Mrs. Constance Hash of Forest Park Elementary School, and Dr. Don Martin, superintendent of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System, will share their micro and macro perspective on how churches can best partner with schools to address education and hunger. You won’t want to miss these forums!

Bring It In

From June 3rd through the week of Community:Serve, we will collect items that address the issue of childhood hunger. We have asked for items that can be used specifically for the Back Pack Program, which provides food for hungry children on the weekend and holidays. Food will be distributed to Second Harvest Food Bank, A Storehouse for Jesus, and several other local partners working to feed hungry children.
